Which Professions Are Susceptible To Mesothelioma?
Any job that involves exposure to asbestos comes with a risk of developing Mesothelioma or a range of other lung and health conditions. The main difficulty comes from the fact that for many years the dangers associated with asbestos were not recognised, while its properties as an insulator were much in demand. As a result of this, large numbers of workers in a range of industries were exposed to asbestos fibres, and many of these have gone on to develop serious health conditions.
It would be impossible to list every occupation that may have led workers to come into contact with asbestos, but below are some of the worst offenders. It should be borne in mind that not only were the workers in these industries put at risk of exposure; their families were also endangered due to the tiny fibres often sticking to clothing, hair or even skin, and then being transported into the home.

This list does not cover all of the occupations that could have led to asbestos exposure – any kind of job that involved access to areas where asbestos fibres were present could carry the same risk as those working in those environments on a regular basis. For example; a salesperson selling a product that contained no asbestos at all could well, as part of their job, have to visit places where asbestos use was prevalent. Even a Health and Safety officer could, ironically, become exposed to asbestos when inspecting a work premises.
